Placements24 in Midrand, Gauteng, seeks a Senior Nanomaterials Research Scientist to pioneer advanced materials R&D. You will design, synthesize, and characterize nanomaterials using CVD/ALD and sol-gel methods, and collaborate across teams to translate research into technologies for electronics and energy.

The role requires a PhD and 5+ years of experience in nanomaterials, with strong skills in electron microscopy, spectroscopy, and data analysis.

Qualifications

• PhD required in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related field with nanomaterials focus.
• Minimum 5 years of postdoctoral or industry research in nanomaterial synthesis and characterization.
• Proven expertise in electron microscopy and spectroscopy and related techniques.

Responsibilities

• Design, synthesize, and characterize novel nanomaterials using CVD, ALD, and sol-gel methods.
• Analyze material properties with SEM/TEM, AFM, XRD, XPS, FTIR.
• Develop reproducible and scalable synthesis/characterization protocols.
• Collaborate with engineers and product developers to translate findings into applications.
• Lead and mentor junior researchers and prepare technical reports and publications.
