Placements24 is seeking a Senior Nanotechnology Researcher for its cutting-edge laboratory in Klerksdorp, North West, South Africa. The role focuses on synthesis, characterization, and application of nanoscale materials, driving innovation from concept to experimental validation.

The ideal candidate holds a PhD and at least six years post-doctoral experience with a strong publication record, proficiency in advanced characterization tools, and the ability to mentor juniors while collaborating

Formación

• Ph.D. in Nanotechnology, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of post-doctoral research in nanotechnology.
• Expert in nanomaterial synthesis (e.g., CVD, PVD, sol-gel, self-assembly) and characterization techniques.
• Strong publication record in nanotechnology or related fields.
• Experience with computational modeling is a plus.
• Strong understanding of quantum mechanics and solid-state physics as they relate to nanoscale phenomena.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts.
• Experience in mentoring junior researchers.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment.

Responsabilidades

• Lead research initiatives in synthesis, fabrication, and characterization of novel nanomaterials.
• Design and conduct experiments to investigate properties of nanoscale materials.
• Develop and optimize techniques for controlled assembly and integration of nanomaterials into functional devices.
• Utilize advanced characterization tools such as SEM, TEM, AFM, and spectroscopy.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and contribute to new research hypotheses.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to explore applications in electronics, biotech, and catalysis.
• Author high-quality research papers and present findings at international conferences.
• Mentor junior researchers and technicians on experimental design and data interpretation.
• Contribute to IP development and potential commercialization strategies.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and manage equipment.
