Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 8+ years hands-on experience with heavy mining equipment maintenance and diagnostics.
• In-depth knowledge of mining machinery and their operation.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment maintenance software.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to train staff.
• Willingness to travel to mine sites.
• Experience with CAT, Komatsu, Sandvik equipment is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert diagnostics and technical support for heavy mining equipment (excavators, trucks, drills, processing machinery).

About the Role

Our client, a leader in the mining industry , is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mining Equipment Specialist to join their technical services team, primarily supporting operations in East London, Eastern Cape . This role focuses on optimizing the performance, reliability, and maintenance strategies for a wide range of heavy mining equipment. The Senior Mining Equipment Specialist will provide expert technical guidance, troubleshoot complex equipment issues, and contribute to procurement and lifecycle management decisions. This is a crucial role for ensuring the operational efficiency and longevity of our client's critical asset base.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical support and diagnostics for heavy mining equipment, including excavators, trucks, drills, and processing machinery.
• Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime and minimize costs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on mining equipment.

Requirements

• A minimum of 8 years of hands‑on experience with heavy mining equipment maintenance and diagnostics, preferably within the mining sector .
• In‑depth knowledge of various types of mining machinery and their operational principles.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment maintenance software.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and guide technical staff.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Willingness to travel to various mine sites as needed.
• Experience with specific OEM equipment (e.g., CAT, Komatsu, Sandvik) is highly desirable.
