Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a qualified Mine Surveyor for a mining client near Randburg, Gauteng. You will conduct surface and underground surveys, maintain control networks, and support mine planning with accurate spatial data.

Responsibilities include processing data with AutoCAD, Vulcan or Surpac, producing mine plans, sections and 3D models, and ensuring safety and compliance. A national diploma or degree and PLATO registration are essential.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Surveying or Geomatics.
• Professional registration with a relevant South African surveying body (e.g., PLATO) is essential.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor, preferably within the mining industry.
• Proficiency in using surveying software such as AutoCAD, Vulcan, Surpac, or similar.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surface and underground surveys to establish and maintain control networks.
• Perform volumetric calculations, stockpile surveys, and site reconciliations.
• Operate and maintain advanced surveying equipment, including total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and laser scanners.
• Process and interpret survey data using specialized software to create and update mine plans, sections, and 3D models.
• Collaborate with mine engineers, geologists, and operations personnel to provide accurate spatial information.
• Ensure survey activities meet industry standards and safety protocols.
• Prepare survey reports and record data in mine databases.
• Assist in setting out development, production areas, and infrastructure.
• Monitor ground movement and deformations as required.
