About the Role

Our client, a prominent mining operation, is seeking an experienced Senior Mine Surveyor to join their team in Mahikeng, North West . This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy of mine plans, cadastral surveys, and volumetric calculations essential for efficient and compliant mining operations. You will be responsible for managing and executing complex surveying tasks, maintaining survey databases, and providing essential data for mine planning and reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underground and/or open-pit surveying, proficiency in modern surveying technologies (e.g., Total Stations, GPS, laser scanners), and a deep understanding of survey software. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a significant mining project in the North West province, ensuring precision and integrity in all spatial data.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct and manage all surface and underground mine surveys, including cadastral, boundary, and infrastructure surveys.
• Perform accurate volumetric calculations for ore reserves, waste dumps, and stockpiles.
• Establish and maintain survey control networks for the mine site.
• Utilize advanced surveying equipment and technologies, including total stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and laser scanners.
• Process and interpret survey data using specialized mining software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
• Prepare and update mine plans, sections, and surface layouts according to regulatory requirements and company standards.
• Liaise with mine planners, geologists, engineers, and management to provide accurate spatial data.
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all survey data and records.
• Train and supervise junior surveyors and survey technicians.
• Stay updated with advancements in surveying technology and methodologies.

Requirements

• A National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mine Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
• Professional registration as a Mine Surveyor with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) or ECSA is essential.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in mine surveying, with significant exposure to both underground and open-pit operations.
• Proficiency in mining-specific survey software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, Deswik) and general CAD software.
• Extensive experience with modern surveying instruments and techniques, including GPS/GNSS, total stations, and digital levels.
• Strong understanding of cadastral surveying principles and mining legislation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Strong communication and report-writing abilities.
• Experience within the North West province mining sector is advantageous.
• Willingness to work in a hybrid model, involving both site visits and office-based data processing and reporting.
