About the Role

Our client, a mining operation in the North West province, is seeking a diligent and technically proficient Mine Surveyor to join their team based in Mahikeng, North West, ZA . This on-site role is essential for accurately mapping underground and surface mine workings, ensuring precise measurements for planning, production, and safety. You will be responsible for establishing control networks, conducting surveys for development and stoping, and monitoring subsidence. The ideal candidate possesses strong surveying skills, proficiency with modern surveying equipment and software, and a thorough understanding of mining survey principles and regulations. Your accurate measurements are fundamental to the safe and efficient operation of the mine.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct underground and surface surveys for mine development, production, and exploration.
• Establish and maintain mine control networks using total stations, GPS, and other surveying equipment.
• Perform volume calculations for stockpiles, excavations, and material movements.
• Monitor mine stability through subsidence surveys and deformation measurements.
• Prepare survey plans, cross-sections, and other survey-related drawings.
• Integrate survey data with mine planning and geological software.
• Ensure all survey activities comply with mine safety regulations and legal requirements.
• Maintain survey equipment and ensure its calibration.
• Assist in the geological modeling and resource estimation process with accurate survey data.
• Record and manage all survey data in a systematic and accessible manner.

Requirements

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mine Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor, preferably in an underground or open-pit mining environment.
• Proficiency with modern surveying instruments (e.g., total stations, GPS/GNSS, laser scanners) and associated software (e.g., AutoCAD, Surpac, Deswik).
• Thorough understanding of mine surveying principles, regulations, and best practices.
• Knowledge of geological data and its integration with survey data.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in measurements and data recording.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and technical aptitude.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
• Valid driver's license.
• Mine Surveyor's Certificate of Competency or eligibility for registration with relevant bodies is advantageous.
