Placements24 is seeking a vigilant Mine Safety Inspector to join our client in Kimberley. You will conduct regular inspections, enforce safety regulations, and promote a strong safety culture across the site.

The role emphasizes independent investigations, training delivery, and comprehensive record-keeping to drive health and safety performance. The ideal candidate has a National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Mining, at least 5 years of mining safety experience, and in-depth

Qualifications

• National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or Mining.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a safety officer or inspector in the mining industry.
• Thorough knowledge of South African mining safety legislation (e.g., MHSA).
• Strong understanding of risk assessment and hazard identification techniques.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training skills.
• Ability to work independently and conduct thorough investigations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular safety inspections of mining areas, equipment, and procedures.
• Identify unsafe conditions or practices and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and recommend preventative measures.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, standards, and company policies.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs to site personnel.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, training, and safety performance metrics.
