Placements24 is seeking an experienced Mine Planning Superintendent to oversee strategic and operational planning for mining operations near Soweto, Gauteng. You will develop short-, medium-, and long-term plans to ensure safe, cost-effective resource extraction and lead a team of planners and engineers.

The role requires a strong technical background in mine planning, proficiency with Deswik, Surpac and Vulcan, plus excellent leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years in mine planning and operations, with 3+ years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in underground and open-pit mining, coal or base metals.
• Proficiency in advanced mine planning software.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage mine plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Optimize mining methods and sequences for recovery and efficiency.
• Oversee short-, medium-, and long-term planning horizons.
• Ensure plans comply with safety, health, and environmental regs.
• Lead and mentor a team of planners and technicians.
• Collaborate with operations, geology, engineering, and processing.
• Utilize planning software (Deswik, Surpac, Vulcan) for modeling.
• Conduct technical reviews and economic evaluations.
• Monitor performance and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare and present progress reports to senior management.
