Placements24 is seeking a Mine Planning Superintendent for a mining client near Bloemfontein, Free State. You will lead the mine planning team, develop short-, medium-, and long-term plans, and ensure alignment with safety and regulatory standards.

Lead open-pit and underground designs, use Deswik, Vulcan and Surpac to optimize sequences, supervise staff, and deliver targets. Competitive package and relocation assistance available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in mine planning and design, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Proficiency in Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac.
• Strong understanding of geological principles, geostatistics, and resource estimation.
• Experience with open-pit and underground environments is an advantage.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
• Proven leadership and team management abilities.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with South African mining regulations.
• Commitment to safety and environmental best practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans and production schedules.
• Oversee the design of open-pit or underground mine layouts, including access roads and ramps.
• Collaborate with geological and engineering teams to align resource models with mine plans.
• Utilize Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac to optimize mine sequences and minimize costs.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for proposed plans.
• Manage the mine planning team, providing guidance, training, and feedback.
• Ensure mine plans comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor performance against the mine plan and implement adjustments as needed.
• Prepare reports and presentations for senior management.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in planning processes and technologies.
