Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mine Planning Superintendent to lead the planning department in Mahikeng, North West. This senior role focuses on strategic development and short-term planning of all mining activities, ensuring efficient resources and compliant operations.

You will manage a team of planners and geologists, leveraging Deswik, Vulcan, and Surpac to maximize profitability and sustainability for the operation. Strong leadership and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years in mine planning and technical services.
• Experience in open-pit or underground planning.
• Proficiency in advanced mine planning software and data interpretation.
• Strong leadership, project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain long-, medium-, and short-term mine plans with geology, surveying, and operations teams.
• Oversee production schedules, drill and blast plans, and equipment deployment strategies.
• Ensure mine plans are technically sound, economically viable, and compliant with regulations.
• Manage and mentor the mine planning team and drive continuous improvement.
• Utilize Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac to optimize mine design and sequencing.
• Conduct feasibility studies and scenario analyses to support decisions.
• Monitor plan execution, identify deviations, and implement corrective actions.
