Job summary

DeARX in Sandton is seeking a Senior Middleware Developer to join a banking environment. You will design, build and support enterprise middleware using Java Spring Boot and modern integration patterns.

This role requires strong API experience (REST & SOAP), IBM WAS/WLP, IBM DataPower, and Docker, with a focus on reliability, security, and scalable Linux/Unix deployments. Collaboration with agile teams and documentation using Jira/Confluence are expected.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' middleware development and administration experience.
• Strong Java Spring Boot background in enterprise environments.
• Experience with IBM WebSphere WAS/WLP and IBM DataPower.
• Experience building REST and SOAP APIs.
• Experience with Linux/Unix and SQL Server databases.
• Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and support enterprise middleware using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build and maintain RESTful and SOAP APIs.
• Configure, administer and optimise IBM WAS and WebSphere Liberty Profile.
• Develop secure integrations using IBM DataPower, API Connect, and BAW.
• Ensure middleware applications are highly available, scalable and performant on Linux/Unix.
• Manage and optimise SQL Server databases for middleware.
• Containerise applications using Docker.
• Support CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Produce technical documentation using Jira and Confluence.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term solutions.
• Collaborate with developers, architects, business analysts and infrastructure teams.

• Design, develop and support enterprise middleware solutions using Java and Spring Boot
