Job summary

Our client near Durban is seeking a Senior Metallurgist to drive process optimization in mineral processing operations. This role blends hands-on laboratory work with on-site monitoring in a hybrid setup.

You will analyze test results, troubleshoot complex metallurgical challenges, and develop strategies to improve recovery, reduce reagent use, and boost overall plant efficiency. Collaboration with operations and engineering is essential.

Qualifications

Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 8 years in mineral processing and metallurgy with a focus on optimization.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex metallurgical challenges.
Experience with flotation, leaching, gravity separation and related methods.
Familiarity with metallurgical accounting and process simulation software.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Analyze metallurgical test results and plant data to identify improvement opportunities.
Develop and implement strategies to optimize recovery, reagent use, and efficiency.
Troubleshoot complex metallurgical problems and provide timely solutions.
