Job summary

Montana Recruitment is seeking a Mechanical Workshop Foreperson for a manufacturing company in Boksburg. You will supervise the mechanical workshop, coordinate a 25-person team, and plan daily workloads to meet production deadlines.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to read engineering drawings. Experience with sheet metal, CNC programming and AutoCAD is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Experience in sheet metal, CNC programming (laser and punching machines) and AutoCAD in engineering/manufacturing environments is advantageous.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Strong leadership and team supervision capabilities are essential.
• Experience in a manufacturing setting with production planning is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise the daily operations of the mechanical workshop.
• Lead and coordinate a team of approximately 25 workshop staff.
• Allocate work and monitor production progress to meet deadlines.
• Ensure workshop activities meet required quality standards.
• Perform and coordinate repairs, maintenance and troubleshooting on workshop machines.
• Maintain and troubleshoot machinery including punching and bending machines.
• Identify mechanical problems and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime.
• Read and interpret drawings; liaise with production and engineering teams.
• Assist with drawing, design and development of enclosures and mechanical components.
• Monitor workshop productivity, quality and housekeeping.
