Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Technician in Mahikeng to lead diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of complex mechanical systems. The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and hands-on problem solving within a dynamic industrial environment.

You will mentor junior technicians, interpret technical drawings, and support installation and commissioning of new equipment. A National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least five years of experience is required.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of proven experience as a Mechanical Technician or similar role.
• Strong practical knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and maintenance procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveyors.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure equipment reliability.
• Interpret manuals, blueprints, and schematics to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Assist in installation, calibration, and commissioning of new mechanical equipment.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and time spent.
