Placements24 is seeking a versatile Mechanical Technician for a hybrid role based in Stellenbosch. You will maintain, repair, and install mechanical systems, diagnosing issues and performing complex repairs to ensure reliability.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, reading drawings, and collaborating with engineering to implement improvements. The role combines site visits with remote planning in the Installation & Maintenance sector.

Qualifications

• Relevant technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven hands-on experience as a Mechanical Technician or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical principles, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical manuals.
• Hybrid work capability and safe working across site and remote planning.

Responsibilities

• Conduct diagnostic assessments of mechanical equipment to identify faults and issues.
• Perform repairs and replacements of worn or damaged mechanical components.
• Install and commission new mechanical systems and machinery per specs.
• Execute preventative maintenance schedules to minimise downtime.
• Interpret engineering drawings and manuals to guide work.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations to implement improvements.
