Placements24 in Polokwane is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our operations team. This hybrid role combines on-site problem-solving with strategic planning to ensure reliable mechanical systems and industrial equipment across facilities.

You will plan and oversee preventative maintenance programs, respond to issues, and collaborate with production teams to minimize downtime. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least five years

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical maintenance in industrial/manufacturing.
• Experience with industrial machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
• Strong knowledge of predictive and preventative maintenance techniques.
• Ability to read mechanical blueprints and P&IDs.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive preventative maintenance schedules for all mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical failures, identifying root causes and implementing lasting solutions.
• Oversee repair and maintenance activities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high standards.
• Manage spare parts inventory and ensure adequate stock levels for critical components.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement equipment upgrades and improvements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to mechanical maintenance.
