Job summary

Placements24 seeks an experienced Lead Mechanical Project Engineer in Cape Town to oversee full lifecycle mechanical projects. You will provide technical leadership, manage resources, and coordinate design teams to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery and high-quality results.

The role requires a Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering with 8+ years in the field, including 3+ years in PM/lead roles, and strong knowledge of PM methods, risk and financial controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Pr. Eng. registration desirable.
• 8+ years in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years in a project management or lead engineer role.
• Proven track record of successfully managing complex mechanical projects from initiation to completion.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, risk management, and financial controls.
• Proficiency in MS Project, Asana and CAD; excellent leadership and client-facing skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and execute mechanical engineering projects, defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
• Develop detailed project plans, including resource allocation, timelines, and budget management, in collaboration with project stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership and expertise in mechanical design, analysis, and problem-solving throughout the project lifecycle.
• Coordinate and oversee the work of design teams, technicians, and external contractors to ensure project milestones are met.
• Ensure all mechanical designs and installations comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
• Prepare and present regular project status reports, risk assessments, and technical documentation to senior management and clients.
