Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter for our workshop in Soweto, Gauteng. The role covers assembly, maintenance and repair of heavy industrial machinery, with hands-on, on-site duties and strict safety standards.

Applicants should have a Mechanical Fitter trade qualification and at least 4 years of experience, with proficiency in reading drawings, hydraulics and power transmission, working both independently and in teams.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Mechanical Fitter or similar recognized trade certification.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Mechanical Fitter, preferably with heavy industrial equipment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and repair heavy industrial machinery and mechanical systems according to specifications and blueprints.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment to identify and address potential issues.
• Diagnose mechanical failures and determine the most effective repair methods.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Ensure all work is carried out to high standards of quality and safety.
• Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
• Collaborate with other mechanics, fitters, and workshop personnel.
• Assist in testing and commissioning of repaired or newly assembled equipment.
• Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
