Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer specializing in rotating equipment for their operations in Nelspruit. This hybrid role combines the flexibility of remote work with the necessity of on-site engagement for critical project phases. You will be responsible for the design, specification, installation, and maintenance of turbomachinery, pumps, compressors, and other vital rotating components within energy generation and industrial facilities. This position is suited for an experienced engineer who can ensure the optimal performance, reliability, and longevity of critical mechanical systems through expert technical knowledge and proactive management.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert technical leadership in the design, selection, and application of rotating equipment such as turbines, compressors, pumps, and motors.
• Develop detailed technical specifications, datasheets, and procurement documents for new equipment and spare parts.
• Oversee the installation, commissioning, and performance testing of rotating machinery.
• Conduct root cause failure analysis (RCFA) for equipment failures and develop effective corrective action plans.
• Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Liaise with manufacturers, vendors, and project teams to ensure compliance with design standards and project requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a significant focus on rotating equipment in industrial settings.
• In-depth knowledge of turbomachinery principles, pump hydraulics, compressor dynamics, and associated lubrication and sealing systems.
