Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of automotive components in a fully remote role across South Africa, including East London. You will leverage CATIA V5/SolidWorks for complex part design, perform FEA and Moldflow analyses, and collaborate with OEMs to ensure manufacturability and performance.

The role requires 7+ years in automotive design, strong analytical and communication skills, and knowledge of APQP/PPAP processes.

Formación

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related automotive discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in mechanical design and development in automotive sector, preferably Tier 1.
• Expert proficiency in CATIA V5, SolidWorks and simulation tools such as ANSYS, Abaqus, Moldflow.

Responsabilidades

• Lead mechanical design and development of automotive components and sub-systems per OEM specs.
• Use 3D CAD to design parts and assemblies, create tolerances and manufacturing docs.
• Perform FEA, durability simulations and mold flow analyses to validate designs.
• Collaborate with remote cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches.
• Develop and manage test plans, analyze data, implement design modifications.
• Maintain BOMs and technical docs throughout the product lifecycle.
• Stay updated on automotive technologies and drive continuous innovation.
• Mentor junior engineers with design challenges and best practices.
