Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering; active registration as PR Eng or Pr Tech Eng with ECSA.
• Minimum 5 years post-graduation working experience in building services.
• Strong HVAC design capability including air conditioning heat load and ventilation calculations per SANS/ASHRAE.
• Experience with HVAC design software and BIM tools.
• Knowledge of SANS, with awareness of British Standards and ASHRAE advantageous.
• Experience across Data Centres, Clean Rooms, Healthcare facilities or Advanced Manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC design and coordination across building services projects.
• Prepare tender documentation and manage tender processes; estimate time and effort for delivery.

SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER - HVAC - CAPE TOWN - PERMANENT

This role will comprise of predominantly HVAC, but experience in Medical Gases, Mechanical Utilities, Wet Services/ Public Health, Fuel System Design, Vertical Transportation and/or Fire Engineering Services will be highly advantageous.

Minimum Requirements

B Eng / BSc / B Tech degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.

Active registration with ECSA as a PR Eng, or Pr Tech Eng.

Minimum 5 Years Post-graduation Working Experience In Building Services.

Currently working at a Consulting Engineering firm would be advantageous.

Must have specific experience in HVAC, designs and construction monitoring, including air conditioning heat load and ventilation calculations, in line with local and international standards.

Must have knowledge of South African National Standards (SANS), particularly ventilation, with an understanding of global standards like British Standards and ASHRAE as an advantage.

Must have worked on either or multiple of the following four sectors:

• Data Centres.
• Clean Rooms.
• Advanced Manufacturing.
• Healthcare Facilities.

Must be skilled in various HVAC design software (e.g., HAP, Loadest, IES) and air/fluid/heat flow calculation tools.

Must have a good understanding and working knowledge of Revit and other BIM Softwares.

Must have a good understanding and able to navigate document management systems such as Autodesk ACC, Autodesk Forma. Any other systems would be advantageous.

Must be experienced in project scoping, scope monitoring, and cost control related to mechanical systems, including preparing tender documentation and managing the tender process, estimating time and effort to succeed in project delivery.

Be competent in the formulation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs).

Be able to oversee contractor and contract management within the mechanical discipline.
