Placements24 invites applications for a Mechanical Design Engineer specializing in turbine systems, based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. Lead the design, analysis, and optimization of mechanical components for energy applications, collaborating with electrical engineers and project managers to ensure safe, manufacturable solutions.

You will work with 3D CAD tools and FEA to validate designs, create BOMs and drawings, and contribute to innovative renewable energy projects in South Africa.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on rotating machinery, turbines, or similar complex mechanical systems.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor) and FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus).
• Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials science, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
• Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Familiarity with energy generation technologies, particularly wind or hydro turbines, is a significant advantage.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work model from Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.

Responsabilidades

• Design, develop, and detail mechanical components and systems for turbine applications using 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA).
• Perform mechanical analysis, including stress, strain, vibration, and thermal analysis, using FEA tools.
• Conduct performance simulations and validate designs against performance requirements.
• Create and maintain detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and assembly teams to ensure designs are producible and meet quality standards.
• Participate in design reviews, providing critical feedback and ensuring adherence to best practices.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and provide technical support during prototype development and testing.
• Research and evaluate new materials, technologies, and manufacturing processes to enhance designs.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements for energy systems in South Africa.
