Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a fully remote position focused on renewable energy systems. You will drive mechanical design from concept to production, utilizing CAD tools and performing FEA/CFD analysis, while collaborating with a globally distributed team.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience in mechanical design, strong thermodynamics knowledge, and proven leadership in remote projects. A strong internet connection and home office setup are required.

Qualifications

• Over 8 years of progressive experience in mechanical design, with a significant focus on sustainable energy or complex mechanical systems.
• Expert proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor) and advanced FEA/CFD tools (ANSYS, COMSOL).
• Deep understanding of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and material science relevant to energy systems.
• Proven experience in product development from concept to commercialization.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for remote collaboration.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor team members in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of key components and systems for sustainable energy technologies.
• Utilize advanced CAD software for 3D modeling, detailing, and 2D drawing creation.
• Perform rigorous engineering analysis, including structural, thermal, and fluid dynamics simulations (FEA/CFD).
• Select appropriate materials and manufacturing processes for components, considering cost, performance, and environmental impact.
• Develop and manage technical specifications, BOMs, and design documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with electrical engineers, systems engineers, and external partners through virtual communication channels.
• Oversee and guide prototyping, testing, and validation efforts to ensure design integrity and performance.
• Troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and propose innovative solutions.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers within the remote team.
• Contribute to intellectual property development and technical publications.
