Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Materials Scientist for its Upington research division focused on sustainable energy materials. The role targets discovery, development, and characterization of materials for solar energy, energy storage, and related technologies.

You will lead projects, collaborate with engineers and product developers, and push forward cutting-edge clean energy solutions. Ideal candidates hold a PhD with at least 6 years in energy-related materials R&D, and possess strong

Qualifications

Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
Minimum of 6 years of experience in materials R&D with energy applications.
Strong knowledge of synthesis, characterization, and structure-property relationships.
Experience with solar cells, batteries, or catalysts is desirable.
Proven ability to manage research projects and work effectively in a team environment.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Research, synthesize, and characterize advanced materials for renewable energy technologies.
Develop and optimize material properties to enhance device performance.
Utilise characterization techniques to understand structure-property relationships.
