Placements24 in Upington is seeking a Research Engineer to advance renewable energy technologies at our dedicated research facility. You will design, test, and optimize energy systems from concept to prototype, collaborating with engineers and scientists to bring novel solutions to fruition.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or PhD in a related field with 3–5 years of R&D experience, hands-on prototyping, testing, data acquisition, and MATLAB/Python/ANSYS expertise for impactful projects.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in EE/ME/MSE with renewable energy focus.
• 3–5 years of R&D experience in renewable energy technologies.
• Hands-on prototyping, testing and characterization of energy systems.
• Proficiency in MATLAB, ANSYS and Python.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test experimental setups for renewable energy systems.
• Conduct performance analysis and optimization of energy conversion and storage devices.
• Develop and implement data acquisition and control systems for experimental validation.
• Collaborate with research scientists to analyze experimental data and interpret results.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations on research findings.
• Stay updated on the latest advancements and emerging technologies in the renewable energy sector.
