Job summary

EDF Renewables South Africa seeks a Marine Renewable Energy Systems Engineer to design, optimize, and manage marine energy systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop scalable ocean energy solutions, perform feasibility studies, and ensure compliance with environmental and technical standards.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in marine renewable energy, strong CAD and simulation skills, and knowledge of SA regulations.

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years in marine renewable energy systems design or implementation.
Experience with offshore energy projects in South Africa or the African continent.
Proven expertise in marine or mechanical engineering.
Experience with CAD software and marine energy simulation tools.
Knowledge of South African renewable energy regulations and permitting processes.
Project management capabilities for multi-disciplinary teams.
Excellent communication skills for stakeholder engagement and technical reporting.

Responsibilities

Design and engineer marine renewable energy systems, including tidal, wave, and ocean current technologies.
Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies for offshore energy projects.
Collaborate with environmental scientists to minimize ecological impacts of installations.
Oversee the integration of marine energy systems with existing power grids.
Lead technical documentation, including system specifications and maintenance protocols.
Monitor and analyze performance data to optimize energy output and system efficiency.
