Job summary

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy South Africa is seeking a Marine Renewable Energy Project Engineer in Soweto to lead offshore and marine project engineering efforts.

The role requires a bachelor’s in Mechanical or Marine Engineering with at least 5 years in renewable energy project engineering, preferably marine or offshore, and experience with design, planning, and execution to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in renewable energy project engineering, with marine/offshore focus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Marine Engineering or related field; Master’s or PMP/PE considered an advantage.
• Proficiency with ANSYS, OrcaFlex and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of IEC, DNV-GL, ISO offshore standards.
• Strong communication and English fluency; solid project management capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop engineering designs for marine renewable installations (foundations, mooring, power transmission).
• Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments and risk analyses.
• Coordinate with marine surveyors, env consultants, and authorities for permits and compliance.
• Prepare technical specifications, procurement packages and vendor evaluations.
• Oversee construction, installation and commissioning; provide on-site support.
• Manage budgets, schedules and performance metrics; report to senior management.
• Implement HSE best practices across the project lifecycle.
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge within the department.
