Job summary
Placements24 is seeking an experienced Marine Engine Installation Specialist in Mossel Bay, Western Cape. The role covers installation, maintenance, and repair of diesel and petrol marine engines across various vessels in a busy shipyard setting.
The ideal candidate will have a trade qualification in Marine/ Diesel mechanics and at least five years of hands-on experience with marine propulsion, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
Qualifications
- Trade qualification as a Marine Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in marine engine installation and repair.
- Ability to read and interpret manuals and schematics.
Responsibilities
- Install new marine engines (diesel and petrol) with correct alignment and connections.
- Perform diagnostic testing on engine performance, fuel, electrical, and cooling systems.
- Carry out routine maintenance: oil changes, filters, tune-ups.
- Troubleshoot engine malfunctions and implement solutions.
- Interpret service manuals, schematics, and data.
- Repair components like turbochargers, injectors, and fuel pumps.
- Ensure compliance with marine safety standards and regulations.
- Maintain service records and manage parts inventory.
