The ideal candidate will have a trade qualification in Marine/ Diesel mechanics and at least five years of hands-on experience with marine propulsion, electrical systems, and diagnostics.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as a Marine Mechanic, Diesel Mechanic, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in marine engine installation and repair.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Install new marine engines (diesel and petrol) with correct alignment and connections.
• Perform diagnostic testing on engine performance, fuel, electrical, and cooling systems.
• Carry out routine maintenance: oil changes, filters, tune-ups.
• Troubleshoot engine malfunctions and implement solutions.

About the Role

Our client, a leading marine services company operating in the vibrant coastal region of Mossel Bay, Western Cape , is seeking an experienced Marine Engine Installation Specialist. This hands-on role is essential for the successful installation, maintenance, and repair of diesel and petrol marine engines on a variety of vessels. The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of marine propulsion systems, fuel systems, electrical diagnostics, and cooling systems. You will work within a busy shipyard environment, ensuring that vessels are equipped with reliable and high-performing engines. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team and independently. Located in the scenic harbour town of Mossel Bay , this role offers the chance to work with state-of-the-art marine technology within the dynamic Western Cape maritime industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Install new marine engines, including diesel and petrol types, ensuring correct alignment and connection of all auxiliary systems.
• Perform comprehensive diagnostic testing on marine engine performance, fuel systems, electrical systems, and cooling systems.
• Conduct routine maintenance and servicing of marine engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, and tune-ups.
• Troubleshoot and repair engine malfunctions, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Interpret engine service manuals, schematics, and diagnostic data.
