Job summary

Crew Life at Sea Ltd. is seeking an experienced Maitre'd to manage daily dining room operations on our cruise ship in Cape Town. You will lead the waitstaff, coordinate with the kitchen, and ensure exceptional guest service during meals.

The role requires strong leadership, organization, and a professional approach to guest relations, plus flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Medical and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Maitre'd in a high-volume restaurant or cruise ship setting.
• Demonstrated leadership and strong communication abilities.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
• Extensive knowledge of food and beverage service techniques and etiquette.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and restaurant management software.
• Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
• Must work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays.
• Must pass pre-employment medical examination and background check.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the dining room, including managing the waitstaff, assigning tables, and ensuring smooth service throughout meal times.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of the waitstaff to maintain high standards of service and professionalism.
• Monitor and maintain the inventory of dining room supplies, including china, glassware, and silverware.
• Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of food orders.
• Interact with guests to ensure a positive dining experience and handle guest concerns or complaints professionally.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
• Assist in creating and implementing menus and special dining events.
• Adhere to safety and sanitation standards to maintain a clean and safe dining environment.
• Oversee billing processes and ensure timely guest checks.
• Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling, payroll, and budget management.
