About the Role Our client, a respected and established law firm with a strong presence in Benoni, Gauteng, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Litigation Attorney to join their dynamic legal team. This role is integral to the firm's continued success, requiring a seasoned professional with extensive experience in handling complex civil and commercial litigation matters. The Senior Litigation Attorney will manage a diverse caseload, from inception through to trial, representing a broad spectrum of clients. Key Responsibilities

• Manage a full spectrum of litigation matters, including civil, commercial, and contractual disputes.
• Conduct thorough legal research, analysis, and prepare pleadings, applications, and other court documents.
• Represent clients in all South African courts, including the High Court, Magistrate's Court, and specialized tribunals.
• Oversee discovery processes, including document management and information gathering.
• Conduct examinations of witnesses and experts.
• Negotiate settlements and represent clients in mediations and arbitrations.
• Provide strategic legal advice to clients throughout the litigation process.
• Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and candidate attorneys.
• Maintain strong client relationships and ensure timely communication.
• Contribute to the firm's knowledge base and practice development initiatives.

Requirements

• A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or equivalent qualification.
• Admission as an Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
• A minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience in litigation.
• Demonstrated experience in handling complex commercial and civil litigation cases.
• Proven track record of advocacy and successful representation in court.
• In-depth knowledge of South African civil procedure, evidence, and substantive law.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to manage a heavy caseload and meet strict deadlines.
