About the Role

Our client, a diversified industrial group, is seeking a versatile and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join their legal department in Vereeniging, Gauteng . This role offers broad exposure to various legal disciplines, including corporate, commercial, employment, and regulatory law. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice, managing contracts, and ensuring compliance across the organization. The ideal candidate is a pragmatic problem-solver with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage diverse legal challenges effectively. Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of matters, including corporate governance, commercial contracts, and regulatory compliance.
• Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents, including agreements, policies, and internal memorandums.
• Manage and advise on employment law issues, disputes, and disciplinary processes.
• Oversee compliance with applicable laws and regulations relevant to the company's operations.
• Conduct legal research and analysis to support business decisions.
• Liaise with external counsel when necessary and manage external legal spend.
• Support the legal team in corporate transactions and special projects.
• Assist in developing and implementing legal policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with a minimum of 5 years of post-qualification experience as a generalist legal counsel.
• Broad experience across corporate, commercial, and employment law.
• Strong understanding of contract drafting and negotiation.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and advisory skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise stakeholders at all levels.
• Detail-oriented and organized approach to legal work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with the industrial sector in Vereeniging or surrounding areas is advantageous.
