Job summary

Pro Placements in Johannesburg is seeking a Senior Solar Installation Electrician to manage on-site PV teams, install grid-tied, hybrid and off-grid systems, and ensure compliance with wiring codes.

The role requires leading installation teams, coordinating with clients on-site, and delivering complete system handovers with proper documentation and COC readiness.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 / Matric certificate
• Recognised electrical qualification (e.g. Trade Test, or equivalent); a3 Phase Wireman's License
• PV GreenCard / SAPVIA accreditation (or equivalent recognised PV installer certification), or willingness to obtain
• Valid driver's license (Code B or higher); own reliable transport advantageous
• Sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS Act) requirements on-site
• Ability to read and interpret electrical/technical drawings and single-line diagrams
• Strong leadership, problem-solving and communication skills
• Able to work at heights and in confined roof spaces
• Physically fit and willing to travel to various sites

Responsibilities

• 3+years' hands-on experience installing grid-tied, hybrid and off-grid solar PV systems
• 5+years' experience as a Electrician.
• Proven experience on commercial/industrial-scale installations
• Experience leading or supervising a installation team on-site
• Experience with battery storage systems (lithium and lead-acid) and backup/UPS integration
• Solid understanding of inverter commissioning, string sizing, and system design principles
• Experience preparing installations for Certificate of Compliance (COC) inspection and sign-off, including correct documentation and as-built records
• Working knowledge of SANS 10142-1-2 (wiring code), SANS 61215/61730, and NRS 097 standards
• Experience liaising directly with clients on-site, including site assessments, technical walkthroughs, and handover

Duties & Responsibilities

3+years' hands-on experience installing grid-tied, hybrid and off-grid solar PV systems

5+years' experience as a Electrician.

Proven experience on commercial/industrial-scale installations

Experience leading or supervising a installation team on-site

Experience with battery storage systems (lithium and lead-acid) and backup/UPS integration
