Job summary

FACT in Pretoria is seeking a qualified Solar PV installer to join our electrical services team. The role focuses on solar PV installations, maintenance, and commissioning across residential, commercial, and industrial projects, with travel to site as required.

You should hold an Electrical Trade Certificate (Red Seal) and N3 or higher, with 3+ years of post-qualification experience and solid knowledge of SANS standards and inverter/battery storage tech.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on Solar PV installation experience.
• Experience with residential, commercial, or industrial PV systems.
• Knowledge of PV components, systems, and installation methods.
• Experience with inverter and battery energy storage tech.

Responsibilities

• Perform Solar PV installations, maintenance, and commissioning.
• Install and commission inverters, battery storage, and PV arrays.
• Conduct DC and AC electrical installations and fault-finding.
• Complete cable routing, terminations, earthing, and protection system installations.
• Interpret electrical drawings and SLDs.
• Test and commission Solar PV systems per industry standards.
• Ensure compliance with SANS regulations and best practices.
• Troubleshoot Solar PV system faults.
• Maintain high workmanship, safety, and quality.
• Complete project documentation and reports.
• Support project teams to deliver installations safely, on schedule.

Duties & Responsibilities

Requirements

• Electrical Trade Certificate (Red Seal)
• National Certificate N3 (Electrical) or higher
• Valid driver's licence
• Minimum of 3+ years post-qualification experience
• Solar PV must be the primary area of expertise and work experience
• Strong understanding of electrical installation practices and safety standards
• Willingness to travel to project sites when required

• Install and commission inverters, battery storage systems, and PV arrays

Essential Experience

• 3+ years of hands‑on experience in Solar PV installations, maintenance, and commissioning
• Experience with residential, commercial, and/or industrial Solar PV systems
• Strong knowledge of Solar PV components, systems, and installation methodologies
• Practical experience working with inverter and battery energy storage technologies

Advantageous Qualifications & Experience

• PV GreenCard certification
• Solar PV installation training certificates
• Experience with grid-tied and hybrid Solar PV systems
• Knowledge of Small-Scale Embedded Generation (SSEG) requirements
• Experience with commercial and industrial Solar PV projects
• Exposure to Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
