Job summary

Discovery Limited is seeking a skilled Java developer for the Vitality RSA Systems unit in Sandton. The role involves translating business and technical specifications into robust code, delivering Java/Java EE solutions, and ensuring zero-defect releases within the SDLC framework.

The candidate will collaborate with BAs and Architects, document logic, and manage code/configuration updates while supporting testing and delivery.

Qualifications

• Honours the ability to translate technical specs into executable Java code.
• Experience delivering Java EE based solutions and working within SDLC standards.
• Familiarity with unit testing, bug tracking, and code reviews.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills within a client-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement the Technical Specification using the relevant development language.
• Produce source code by applying the DHS technical standards, and referencing the systems' exposed sub processes.
• Update the reference documentation and update the scheduling tool with progress.
• Consult with BA and Architect on technical issues encountered.
• Document logic and comments inside code.
• Document Database structure changes and rule changes.
• Produce or update the configuration files.
• Conduct unit testing and fix defects found.
• Review error logs and provide updates to BA on fixes.
• Coordinate Build, Test, Deliver, Change Requests.
