Job summary

Sabenza IT & Recruitment is seeking an Intermediate Java Developer to join a professional services development team in Cape Town. The role focuses on Java/J2EE, Spring, Apache Camel, SQL, system integration and enterprise databases, delivering reliable software solutions with hands-on development and production support.

The successful candidate will translate requirements into designs, deploy and support software across environments, and work with modern tools including Docker, Kubernetes, Git

Qualifications

• 5+ years' relevant Java development experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java/J2EE.
• In-depth knowledge of Spring Framework, Apache Camel, J2EE containers and web servers, SQL and relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Develop, build and maintain reliable and effective software solutions using Java/J2EE, Spring and Apache Camel.
• Translate business and technical requirements into application designs, data models and structures.
• Develop solutions using Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
• Write complex, efficient and optimised SQL queries to support data requirements.
• Develop and integrate REST APIs and enterprise systems.
• Support software integration using RabbitMQ and ActiveMQ.
• Deploy, install and configure software releases across environments.
• Utilise Git for version control and collaborative development.
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes for deployment and containerisation.
• Utilise Linux and Bash for scripting and admin tasks.
• Conduct software testing and document results.
• Participate in SDLC, Agile/Scrum environments.
