Job summary

Medtronic in Johannesburg, South Africa is seeking a Senior IT Technologist to deliver advanced, hands-on infrastructure support and deployments across office, manufacturing, distribution, administrative, and lab environments. You will be the on-site infrastructure expert ensuring stability, performance, and uptime of critical IT systems.

The role requires coordinating with local and global IT teams, managing vendor relationships, and leading projects across locations.

Qualifications

• Matric plus 3-year IT diploma/degree with 4+ years of relevant experience.
• 3+ years hands-on experience across networks, servers, storage, and backup solutions.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capability in infrastructure environments.
• Advanced knowledge of networking, device security, and enterprise systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and document infrastructure solutions meeting requirements.
• Manage system configuration, capacity, and reliability across environments.
• Monitor environments, troubleshoot issues, and improve performance.
• Provide advanced support for network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewall and multi-site connectivity.
• Maintain secure LAN/WAN/MAN networks including patching and upgrades.
• Deliver onsite infrastructure support including diagnostics, installation, cabling, and asset lifecycle management.
• Lead or support multi-site infrastructure projects with clear milestones and timelines.
• Coordinate vendors, procurement, and onsite service activities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and global IT teams for guidance and status updates.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, standards, and SOPs.
