Job summary

Datacentrix is seeking an experienced IT professional to provide coverage and support for Network operations and the IT department in a dynamic environment in Cape Town. You will support business unit services, analyze logs, and monitor backups while configuring devices and scripts to automate tasks.

The role requires 5–8 years in LAN/WAN and strong Microsoft Server experience, including O365/Azure, IIS, and remote desktop services. Applicants should be prepared to travel between sites as needed.

Qualifications

5–8 years as a generalist in a LAN/WAN environment.
Experience supporting end users’ network in a Microsoft Server environment.
Sound knowledge of Windows desktop and server OS and basic web tech (IIS).
Experience with Exchange, O365, Azure; Threat detection advantageous.
Knowledge of Internet protocols, VPN & Firewalls, encryption and certificates.
Familiarity with virtualization tech for Hyper-V/VMware; SCVMM preferable.

Responsibilities

Provide coverage and support for Network operations and IT Department as directed by supervisor.
Provide technical support for the Business Unit.
Monitor and maintain Business Unit services.
Analyze log files and investigate/correct or record errors.
Monitor server and data backup processes.
Configure network devices as directed.
Work with systems for endpoint device management (software distribution, updates, patching antivirus, imaging).
Assist with network account creation and troubleshooting.
Develop scripts and programs to automate tasks and data transfer.
Ensure service tickets are closed or escalated promptly.
Travel between sites may be required.
Support the department to achieve its mission and values.
