Job summary

WhatJobs Direct is seeking a seasoned IT Project Manager to oversee major infrastructure deployment projects in Centurion, Gauteng. This on-site role requires a hands-on leader to plan, execute, and close critical IT upgrades across the network.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of infrastructure project experience, strong vendor coordination, and proficiency with PMP/PRINCE2/Agile methodologies, MS Project, and Jira. ABachelor’s in IT/CS and relevant certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years in IT project management focused on infrastructure.
• Experience managing large hardware, software and network deployments.
• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, servers, networking, cloud and cybersecurity.
• Proficient in PMP/PRINCE2/Agile project management methodologies.
• Excellent leadership, communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience with MS Project and Jira.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• IT certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA) are a strong plus.
• Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented, on‑site environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of IT infrastructure projects from initiation to closure.
• Develop detailed project plans including scope, resources, budget and scheduling.
• Coordinate with internal IT teams, external vendors and stakeholders.
• Oversee installation, configuration and testing of hardware, software and network components.
• Identify and mitigate risks and issues to minimize operational disruption.
• Track progress, provide status reports and manage change requests.
• Ensure deployed infrastructure adheres to security policies and standards.
• Manage project budgets and ensure cost‑effective delivery.
• Conduct post‑project reviews and document lessons learned.
