Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor for our client in Stellenbosch, a leading financial institution in the Western Cape winelands. This on-site role ensures integrity of internal controls, risk management, and governance across units.

You will plan, execute, and report on complex audits, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with external auditors to strengthen controls and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in accounting, auditing, finance, or related field.
• CIA, CA(SA), or CISA certification is essential.
• 5-7 years in internal or external auditing, preferably financial services.
• Solid understanding of COSO, risk assessment, and controls.

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and report on internal audits of financial, operational, and IT processes.
• Assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management frameworks, and governance processes.
• Identify control weaknesses, operational inefficiencies, and instances of non-compliance.
• Develop practical recommendations to address identified risks and control deficiencies.
• Communicate audit findings and recommendations to management and the Audit Committee.
• Conduct follow-up reviews to ensure actions are implemented.
• Stay current with audit standards and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor junior audit staff on engagements.
• Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
