Placements24 seeks a skilled Insurance Underwriter to join our client’s team in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will assess and price risk for new and existing policies, analyze applicant data, and support profitability and sustainability through sound underwriting decisions.

You will develop guidelines, collaborate with agents and brokers, monitor policy performance, and stay abreast of regulatory changes and market trends to inform underwriting practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Risk Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Insurance Underwriter.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
• In-depth knowledge of insurance products, underwriting principles, and risk assessment techniques.
• Excellent decision-making capabilities and ability to work under pressure.
• Proficiency in underwriting software and database management.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate insurance applications to assess risks and determine eligibility for coverage.
• Analyze financial statements, medical reports, and other documentation to price policies accurately.
• Develop and implement underwriting guidelines and strategies aligned with company objectives.
• Collaborate with agents and brokers to explain underwriting decisions and ensure smooth policy issuance.
• Monitor the performance of underwritten policies and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape to inform underwriting practices.
