Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Principal Industrial Systems Engineer for its Durban operations. The role focuses on the design, implementation, and optimization of complex industrial systems across a broad distribution network, with hands-on, on-site responsibilities.

You will lead major engineering projects, drive innovation, and collaborate with operations, IT, and external vendors to deliver tangible improvements in throughput, safety, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or closely related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in industrial systems engineering with logistics/warehousing exposure.
• Proven track record leading large-scale engineering projects from initiation to completion.
• Experience with simulation software and data analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and implementation of advanced industrial systems and automation solutions.
• Analyze processes to identify improvement and innovation opportunities.
• Create engineering specifications, project plans, and technical documentation for upgrades.
• Perform performance analyses using simulation, modeling, and statistics to optimize throughput.
• Oversee integration of new technologies into existing operations.
• Collaborate with operations, IT, and vendors to ensure project delivery.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Develop testing and validation protocols for implemented systems.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex system issues and define long-term corrective actions.
