Placements24 is recruiting a Senior Industrial Process Optimization Engineer for a leading Johannesburg manufacturing client. You will drive continuous improvement across all production lines, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency through Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies.

You will collaborate with production, quality, and supply chain teams, lead cross-functional projects, develop SOPs, and evaluate new automation opportunities to strengthen operational performance and market

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5–7 years in industrial engineering, process improvement, or operations.
• Expertise in Lean, Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt preferred).
• Experience with ERP/MES and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing industrial processes to identify inefficiencies and waste.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct detailed analyses of existing industrial processes to identify inefficiencies, waste, and areas for improvement using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
• Design, develop, and implement new or improved processes, workflows, and layouts to optimize production efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Utilize data analysis tools and statistical methods to monitor process performance, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide actionable insights.
• Lead and facilitate cross-functional teams in problem-solving sessions and improvement projects.
• Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and training materials to ensure consistent application of optimized processes.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and automation solutions to enhance operational capabilities.
• Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets for process improvement initiatives.
• Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management on project status, findings, and recommendations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in industrial engineering, process improvement, or operations management, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred), and other continuous improvement methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic) and data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab, Excel).
• Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Experience with ERP systems and manufacturing execution systems (MES) is advantageous.
