Placements24 in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, seeks a Senior Industrial Engineer to drive Lean transformation across our client’s manufacturing operations. You will champion waste reduction, implement data-driven improvements, and mentor teams to sustain a culture of continuous improvement.

The role requires a Master's in Industrial Engineering with 7+ years in industrial engineering and proven Lean leadership (Black Belt/Master Black Belt preferred).

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years in industrial engineering with Lean experience.
• Lean facilitator or Black Belt / Master Black Belt preferred.
• Proven record leading large-scale Lean transformations in manufacturing/ process industries.
• Strong knowledge of Lean principles, tools, and philosophies.
• Excellent facilitation, coaching, and communication skills.
• Experience with data analysis and performance metrics tracking.
• Willing to relocate to Stellenbosch, Western Cape, with hybrid work.

About the Role

Our client, a recognized leader in the wine and spirits industry, is seeking a highly motivated Senior Industrial Engineer to lead their Lean transformation initiatives. Based in the picturesque town of Stellenbosch , Western Cape , this role is pivotal in driving significant improvements in operational efficiency, waste reduction, and overall productivity across the company's diverse operations. The Senior Industrial Engineer will champion Lean methodologies, mentor teams, and implement data-driven solutions to create a culture of continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive Lean transformation strategy across all operational areas.
• Identify and eliminate waste (Muda) in all its forms, including overproduction, waiting, transport, over-processing, inventory, motion, and defects.
• Implement and facilitate Lean tools and techniques such as Value Stream Mapping (VSM), 5S, Kaizen events, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
• Train, coach, and mentor employees at all levels on Lean principles and their application.
• Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of Lean initiatives and identify areas for further improvement.
• Conduct process audits and analysis to ensure sustained Lean practices and identify new opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Lean thinking into new product development and process design.
• Develop business cases and project plans for significant improvement initiatives.
• Facilitate cross-functional problem-solving sessions and continuous improvement workshops.
• Communicate progress, successes, and challenges of the Lean program to stakeholders at all levels.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial engineering, with a strong focus on Lean Manufacturing implementation and driving continuous improvement.
• Proven expertise as a Lean facilitator or Black Belt (Master Black Belt certification strongly preferred).
• Demonstrated success in leading and implementing large-scale Lean transformations in a manufacturing or process-driven industry.
• In-depth knowledge of Lean principles, tools, and philosophies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
• Excellent facilitation, coaching, and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse audiences.
• Experience with data analysis and performance metrics tracking.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Stellenbosch , Western Cape , and comfortable with a hybrid work arrangement.
