Placements24 is recruiting a Principal Industrial Engineer for its Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal operations. The role leads facility design, layout optimization, and capital project execution to maximize safety, efficiency, and scalability within the chemical processing sector.

You will conduct material flow analyses, develop 3D models, and coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to ensure seamless integration of equipment designs.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in industrial engineering with facility design and capital projects.
• Experience with process simulation and 3D modeling.
• Knowledge of chemical processing plant operations and safety.
• Professional Engineer (PrEng) registration is desirable.
• Willingness to work on-site in Richards Bay, SA.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and layout of new manufacturing facilities and reconfigurations.
• Analyze material flow, bottlenecks, and operational efficiency.
• Develop 3D models and simulations of layouts for space optimization.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to integrate designs.
• Ensure designs meet safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and timelines for design initiatives.
• Oversee installation and commissioning of new equipment and lines.
• Implement lean and Six Sigma in facility design and planning.
• Provide technical mentorship to junior staff.
• Prepare technical documentation and present proposals to senior management in Richards Bay.
