Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Industrial Electrical Engineer for a major manufacturing facility in Kimberley, Northern Cape. You will lead electrical engineering initiatives, overseeing design, installation, maintenance and optimization of electrical systems across a heavy industry operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required with 8+ years in industrial electrical engineering.
• Experience in industrial electrical design, control systems (PLC/SCADA) and power distribution.
• Strong knowledge of motor controls, variable frequency drives and automation tech.
• Experience with project management methodologies and tools.
• Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities; strong leadership and communication.
• Pr. Eng. with ECSA is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and specification of electrical systems for new equipment and plant upgrades.
• Oversee maintenance and repair of electrical machinery, including motors, drives, control systems, and power networks.
• Develop strategies to improve reliability, efficiency, and safety of electrical systems.
• Manage electrical projects from conception through completion within budget and timeline.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical issues to minimize downtime and production impact.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations (OHS Act, SANS) and company policies.
• Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers and technicians.
• Evaluate and recommend new electrical technologies to enhance manufacturing processes.

About the Role

• Strong leadership and communication abilities.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Experience working in or around Kimberley or similar industrial settings.
