Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for industrial facilities, including power distribution, lighting, and earthing systems.
• Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control panel layouts using CAD software.
• Select and specify electrical equipment such as switchgear, transformers, motors, and VSDs.
• Perform engineering calculations for load flow, short circuits, and cable sizing.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant national and international electrical standards (SANS, IEC, NEC).
• Liaise with clients, project managers, and other engineering disciplines to define project requirements.
• Provide technical expertise during the construction and commissioning phases of projects.
• Troubleshoot complex electrical issues on site and provide effective solutions.
• Develop and maintain project documentation, including design reports, specifications, and as-built drawings.
• Mentor and guide junior electrical engineers and designers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in electrical design engineering, with a strong focus on industrial projects.
• Proven experience in designing electrical systems for manufacturing plants, chemical facilities, or similar industrial environments.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
• In-depth knowledge of industrial power distribution, motor control systems, and automation concepts.
• Experience with hazardous area classifications and intrinsically safe design principles is highly desirable.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr. Tech. Eng.) registration is preferred.
• Willingness to undertake site visits as required.
