Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Control Systems Engineer for a on-site role in Kimberley, South Africa. You will design, implement, and maintain PLC/ HMI based control systems across production lines, ensuring reliable operation and optimal performance.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of hands-on experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley and Siemens S7, strong troubleshooting skills, and a proven ability to collaborate with mechanical engineers on capital projects. Pr Eng is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years hands-on experience in electrical control systems engineering.
• Strong PLC programming and HMI design skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission electrical control systems using PLCs and HMIs.
• Develop and maintain control logic, electrical schematics, and system documentation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve automation issues on the production floor to minimize downtime.
• Implement improvements to existing control systems to enhance efficiency, safety, and product quality.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate automation solutions into new equipment and processes.
• Manage electrical aspects of capital projects, including vendor selection and system integration.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and industry best practices.
• Provide technical support and training to maintenance staff and operators.

About the Role

Our client, a dynamic industrial manufacturing company, is seeking a Senior Electrical Control Systems Engineer to join their facility in Kimberley . This role is crucial for the design, implementation, and maintenance of sophisticated electrical control systems across their production lines. You will be responsible for optimizing automation processes, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring the reliable operation of machinery. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience with PLCs, HMIs, industrial networks, and motion control systems, preferably within a manufacturing or process industry context. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Kimberley .

Key Responsibilities

• Experience with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus TCP/IP).
• Knowledge of VFDs, servo drives, and motion control systems.
• Familiarity with industrial electrical codes and safety standards.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills related to automation and control hardware and software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
• Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration is a plus.
