Placements24 seeks a Senior Industrial Design Engineer for its Sandton team to lead product design from concept to production. You will translate user needs and technical specs into market-leading industrial products, collaborating with mechanical engineers and marketing to ensure feasibility, cost targets, and strong aesthetics.

The role requires a robust portfolio, proficiency in 3D CAD and rendering tools, and deep knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in industrial design with an industrial product portfolio.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA).
• Strong visualization/rendering skills (Keyshot, Adobe Creative Suite).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials science.
• Excellent sketching, development, and presentation abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the industrial design process from concept to production for new and existing products.
• Develop user-centric design solutions aligned with market needs and business objectives.
• Create concept sketches, 3D CAD models, renderings, and prototypes.
• Select materials and manufacturing processes for feasible designs.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure design feasibility and integration.
• Work with marketing and sales to understand customer requirements and trends.
• Conduct user research and ergonomic assessments to inform design decisions.
• Prepare design documentation for manufacturing and reviews.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and cost targets.
• Present concepts to stakeholders and clients.
• Stay updated on design trends, materials, and manufacturing technologies.
