About the Role

Our client, a leading financial institution, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Incident Responder to join their cybersecurity team in Mahikeng, North West. This critical role involves leading the response to cybersecurity incidents, minimizing impact, and restoring normal operations as quickly as possible. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of incident response methodologies, digital forensics, threat intelligence, and containment strategies. You will be responsible for analyzing security breaches, conducting forensic investigations, and developing effective response plans. Key Responsibilities

• Leading and coordinating the response to cybersecurity incidents, from initial detection to post-incident analysis.
• Performing digital forensic investigations to collect and analyze evidence of security breaches.
• Developing and maintaining incident response playbooks and procedures.
• Monitoring security alerts and threat intelligence feeds to identify potential threats.
• Containing security incidents and eradicating malicious actors from affected systems.
• Collaborating with IT, legal, and communications teams during incident response efforts.
• Conducting post-incident reviews to identify lessons learned and improve response capabilities.
• Staying current with the latest attack vectors, malware, and incident response techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Forensic Science, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in incident response, digital forensics, or a related cybersecurity role.
• Proven experience in analyzing security incidents, performing forensic investigations, and collecting evidence.
• Strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems (Windows, Linux), and common attack techniques.
• Proficiency with incident response tools and forensic analysis software (e.g., EnCase, FTK, Volatility, Wireshark).
• Experience with SIEM and IDS/IPS technologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Relevant certifications such as GCIH, GCFA, CISSP, or EnCE are highly desirable.
